FuNky JuNK....hope you were there!

First let me say what WoNderFuL vendors and such nice, nice ladies I had in my area.  This was my first sale and I ended up having the best time meeting other vendors, bloggers (Aurora Suzette & Catty Wampus) and such nice people who bought my junk(she said lovingly).  It was such fun being with people who love JuNk just as much as I do!

I saw the pillars and fell in love, instantly!  I so wanted these but alas they did not come home with me!  It wasn't the lack of Jennifer trying to sell them to me....I just imagined the conversation I would be having with my husband explaining how I had bought these beauties and how we would be loading them into the truck and  coming home with us!  Not a conversation I was willing to have!!!!!

So many talented artist at this show and seriously....a lot of incredible finds!  The night before the sale, when we were trying to unload our truck of stuff, I had to keep myself from walking around to look at all the incredible stuff from other vendors.  I could have easily loaded the truck back up with new finds that night!

I managed to clear out a lot of stuff.  Some things that did not sell, I piled up and told the vendors around me that they could have what they wanted for free!  A win win for all.  They get new treasures and I get to clear out some goodies!
Thank you to my friend Michelle for helping me out on this sale!  And big thanks to my husband for all his help and lifting of heavy, heavy items like the wood stove!

There were a few vendors that I had to keep returning to their booth just to make sure I did not overlook anything!  Friday night was CraZY!  A lot of people came out to support the Ta-Ta's and get first dibs on some pretty great treasures!

All I can say is sign me up for the next FuNkY JuNK sale!

A pinch of junking with a dash of Art&Soul

Headed to Portland on Wednesday to do Art&Soul. Took the Vintage Gentleman class using resin clays and Stephanie Lees class on Selective Painting.  Loved both classes!  The resin clay class has me full of ideas and so many new possibilities in creating artwork!  Can't wait to get started creating!  Tomorrow I'm back to Portland for "Off the Cuff" with Stephanie and I'm excited for this class.  Should be a lot of fun!  I love her artwork and jewelry!!!!

This is the piece I created with the resin clay!  I love the process of painting and aging the clay.  You get different results every time with painting the clay, so no two pieces are ever the same!

And of course when one is in Portland you must make time to visit Monticello and Stars & Splendid.  I finally made a visit to the Rebuilding Center to wander through the salvaged material. Brought home a few aged pieces of moulding with layer upon layers of paint!

One of my favorites at Splendid is Frocky Jack Morgan!  I love her creativity with her altered vintage clothing!

Had a fun time, met a lot of nice people, learned some new skills and manged to add some new treasures to my collection.  Looking forward to next years retreat!  Now it's time to focus and get ready for the Funky Junk sale!  Nineteen days and counting.....YIKES!!!!!

Treasure Seeking Weekend

A pretty successful weekend of treasure gathering! A few thrift stores, Craigslist and a couple of garage sales...... I think I found some real treasures! I think this chair was my favorite find! I had planned on selling it but now I'm picturing it in my studio.....hmmm!!!

I think Bug agrees! While taking photos of my finds, he managed to get in to a few pics!

Annabelle decided she wanted to be a part of the fun!

I thought this canvas painting was a nice find!

The nice finds at the thrift store included this cool bed. I passed on one years ago at a thrift store and I've been searching for one ever since. It is coming in to my studio after a paint job and some pretty bedding to serve as a dog/cat bed for all to sleep while I create pretties! A vintage lamp with a fabulous base (like I needed another one but the price was right) a cool swirl lampshade and a vintage frame that will make a nice chalkboard!

Old perfume bottles, silver plate pieces with beautiful detailing, urns that need some painting, old fishing tackle tin and a old cutting board with a pretty patina that will serve as a workspace while creating pretties!

A few finds from Craigslist. A great cabinet full of drawers that I think I'm going to use old ceiling tin to cover the top to give it some character. A desk that has spoons attached for drawer pulls. It too might get some ceiling tiles attached to the top since it is not in the best of shape.

Now to decide what I'm keeping and what I'm selling! That is the hard part for me! Some things are just so pretty, I have a hard time not finding a new home for them in my studio. All in all, I think I had a good weekend of finding treasures and I know I had a lot of fun searching!

Illuminated Necklace Workshop with Sally Jean

Last weekend I had a fabulous time in a three day workshop at Sally Jeans studio with nine other gals. We created art, soldered, laughed, drank wine, ate pizza and had fun creating our necklaces the first evening in our pjs. Yes we wore pjs and Sally had the best slippers! Everyone created such wonderful necklaces! I just wish I had taken photos, but I was so busy trying to finish up my projects that I did not get pictures of every ones pretties! But as always I did manage to take more photos around Sallys studio. Such an inspiring place to create art! So many beautiful trinkets and her own personal art just tucked away in her cubbies .

None of us had seen a completed project when we all signed up to be a part of her "Finale" class. But when she showed us her Illuminated Necklace we were all very excited to get started creating our own!
Her Chanel necklace is fabulous!!! A very special thank you to her son for coming to our class to demonstrate how we make the illumination part of this necklace.
I loved making this necklace! Now I'm going to purchase my very own glass saw and gather up more vintage perfume bottles so I can make more of these pretties! The down side to this is a lot of these bottles still have perfume in them and not the most pleasing of scents. My bottle was a Chantilly so through the entire class I kept humming Chantilly Lace! Here is my necklace on Sallys dress form, Coco (as in Coco Chanel).
I still need to complete my book for my necklace. We discovered this is a very long process of cutting and cutting and cutting to complete this part of the project. But I'm excited to have a book that will be a special place for my necklace to rest!!!!
You can see the rest of the photos from my weekend at Flickr. Just click here to check them out.
